GTA Cops and Robbers

Reporting Rules

Updated on January 7, 2024

1. One post per situation

If there are multiple people involved in one situation then it's one post. If there are 2 different situations, please, open two different posts.

2. Accepted format

The post name must contain:

  • Name or id of the reported user
  • Reason of the report (unless tags are specific enough)

It's useful so other people who are scrolling through this channel and see the report are able to add more info and evidence to it, even in your favor. It's also needed for us to quickly scroll through all the posts and find a specific report if we need it.

When you only have the ID or you can't spell the name (i.e. foreign characters, symbols...), please, also specify how long ago the event happened. We are able to find a user accurately based on the ID and the time he was logged on.

If you don't know who is the user that you want to report (e.g. modder spawning props or exploding players), use the word UNKNOWN.

3. Valid evidence

The usually accepted kinds of evidence are:

  • screenshots
  • videos
  • stream clips

If you don't have any evidence at all, you can still open the post but it's highly unlikely that we'll handle the reported user, unless we're able to verify the allegations by ourselves using logs. However, it is useful sometimes when there's a modder on the server messing things up and you don't know who it is.

3a. Civilian RDMing

To prove civilian RDM is not easy, that's why we only require you to post a clip with audio starting before the duel/DM encounter started and ending after the death. The death message should not say "in revenge", "in a redzone" or "for $X". In case we later find out that the kill was justified and you knew it, you will get banned.

3b. Police/EMS RDMing

A police officer or paramedic may still attack and kill another officer, paramedic or innocent civilian in self-defense. Therefore, the evidence must be a clip that starts before the encounter (to establish who started it), and contains proof of non-violent crimes (either the clip is long enough, or it shows your /crimes command menu), and we won't accept a report solely based on a log or screenshot of the death message. In case it's obvious that the killed player wasn't a threat (e.g. a cuffed player), then it's acceptable to use a screenshot that can prove it was not an accident.

3c. Mass RDM or blatant cheating

If you know for a fact that someone is RDMing in mass (e.g. campers, or other players going around and killing everyone on sight), you may report it without adding your own evidence, and we will check the logs of that player. The same applies when a player is blatantly cheating without and causing a lot of harm to a point that most players know for a fact that they're cheating.

3d. Code of conduct violations

If you are reporting a violation of rules 10e, 10f and 10g, and your clip shows the mic icon, your voice must also be recorded in your clip, otherwise the moderation team may dismiss the report.

4. Don't add comments of no value

Ideally, only moderators, the reporter, and the reported should use a report post. However, you can comment to add evidence, credibility, context, or other useful information you may have. Do not add a comment to a report post if you have no constructive reason to do so. Adding comments of no actual value to a report can result in a timeout, blacklisting from the reports section and, if deemed necessary, an in-game fine of up to 10M and ban of up to 14 days. Storming report threads to get them closed will definitely result in those more severe actions.

5. Don't make false reports

Knowingly reporting someone for something they have not done or lying in a report in any way is against the server rules (gtacnr.net/rules), and you will get banned for at least 1 week when we find out.

6. Serious reports only

The reports section is constantly cluttered with hundreds upon hundreds of reports a week, and our volunteer moderation team has technically no real requirements as for how many reports they have to handle. This means that as a community we should reduce our usage of this section to the strict necessary to keep the server clean.

6a. Do not report players for obvious accidents

If what happened is the result of an obvious accident, please don't report the player even though it may fall into the "negligent RDM" category. If you do, your report might still be accepted if valid, however, know that you're contributing to cluttering the reports section.

6b. Do not report players for RDM after intentionally baiting or provoking them in any way

Any reports for RDM that show that you have initiated the encounter with provocation or baiting will be rejected even if the rule was broken, the reported player will be given a pass, and you will be timed out or blacklisted from the reports section.

6c. Do not report a player twice for the same incident

Do not open multiple reports on the same player for the same incident. If your report has been denied and you disagree with the verdict, make a support ticket and ping the staff of a rank higher than the one that issued the verdict.

7. Don't ping the staff until 24 hours have passed

Pinging the moderators is not necessary if your post is high enough in the list of posts. Please, be patient and wait for at least 24 hours before pinging any moderator or the moderator roles. You may be timed out up to 1 hour. If you have been timed out for longer, please let us know.

Notes

Long Threads

The staff is allowed to completely dismiss reports that contain too much useless information, flaming, or too many pages of text to read. Keep the report simple, only add valuable information in the most efficient way possible, they're not discussion threads.

Old Incidents

With the exception of rules 3, 4, 6, 7, 8, 9, 10 (a, b, c, d, e, f) we no longer accept reports for things that happened more than 1 week before the opening date of the thread.
